This is an ever expanding list of words I come across in my day-to-day that I just like, whether I’m fascinated by the spelling, meaning, or how a word sounds. I update frequently, so if you’re into words, check back periodically and see what new and interesting words I’ve added.
For easy reference, each definition below links to a dictionary page at Vocabulary.com or Google Dictionary with an extended description and audio pronunciation, because pronunciation and correct spelling are equally important, right?
(noun) a discomfort caused by holding conflicting cognitions (e.g., ideas, beliefs, values, emotional reactions) simultaneously
(adj.) loud and harsh; grating. (See note at vociferous); presenting a point of view, esp. a controversial one, in an excessively and unpleasantly forceful way
(verb; intrans.) repeat or prolong an action, thought, or utterance after the stimulus that prompted it has ceased
(adj.) apparently correct or true, but actually wrong or false; deceptively attractive in appearance; misleading in appearance, esp. misleadingly attractive
(adj. technical) of or relating to a transitional or initial stage of a process; occupying a position at, or on both sides of, a boundary or threshold
